Bowler Elizabeth Fonvergne knows about perfect endings

One of the fun parts about talking to bowlers is that they virtually all have a story that marks their careers.

And that holds true for Elizabeth Fonvergne, who has averaged as high as 222 during the 2009-10 “Party Animals” league season at Canoga Park Bowl.

Fonvergne, a Canoga Park resident, throws left-handed lasers down the lanes and has rolled a scorching 787 series in 2006.

She definitely belongs in the narrow group of upper-echelon women’s bowlers and her highlights reflect that.

“I’ve had four 300s and one 290,” said Fonvergne when asked about her memorable moments, “and nothing in-between.

“So when I get there [last shot], it’s been all or nothing. And it’s been ‘all.’ ”

Fonvergne admits to a bad case of nerves late in her games when she’s stringing together strikes from the start. But she has remained focused.

Fonvergne smoked her four perfect games at three bowling centers: now-defunct AMF Rocket Lanes in Chatsworth in 1992; Canoga Park Bowl in 2001; Corbin Bowl in Tarzana in 2006; and Canoga Park Bowl in 2011.

“I’m not a one-house bowler,” added Fonvergne with a smile.
