Earlier this year, David Bowie released his album The Next Day, but had no plans in touring to support it. However sources such as MSN.com, have stated that a concert comeback could be in order, but the rock legend is reportedly nervous about it.
The talks of a return to the stage have resulted from a bidding war with promoters Live Nation and AEG, both of whom are vying for a multimillion dollar deal, for Bowie to take the stage in his first gig for eight years, beginning next year. Rumors have speculated that Bowie is lined up to perform in London, whether in Olympic Park or Hyde Park. Yet Bowie has also been reported to be wary of the stage, given the level of expectation for huge shows. Consequently, there are no plans to tour at this time, but if a change of heart in the matter occurs, cities including San Francisco and Oakland could be seeing Bowie in concert, but right now a tour is just something in consideration.
In other music news, Prince has announced the release of his latest single “Breakfast Can Wait”, which has already caused a stir due to the cover art, which shows a photo of comedian Dave Chappelle dressed as the “Purple One”. Of course the cover was merely a joke, but what is real is Prince giving worldwide performances, thus raising both his profile and notice of the new song, which is released through his new distribution deal with the independent label Kobalt.
Prince is also currently working on a new album, set to be titled Plectrum Electrum.
