Bow & Truss presents the perfect excuse to come out to the valley Thursday night with “The Art of the Cocktail,” an event that is open to the public, and will be a great way to enjoy your evening while bringing the month of February to a close. “The Art of the Cocktail” will be a fun and enlightening seminar that will teach attendees the secrets to crafting Bow & Truss’ signature cocktails and what makes them unique, along with sample tastings from the class, insights on Spanish sherries, and hor d’oeuvre pairings by executive chef Stefhanie Meyers.
Jonny Whitton, who developed the sherry and cocktail menu for Bow & Truss will be instructing Art of the Cocktail, while also showcasing different handmade bitters collected from around L.A. His more than 10 years of bar expertise comes from working at places like Seven Grand, Villains Tavern, Cliff’s Edge, and instruction by Marcos Tello and Aidan Demarest through the Liquid Assets program. Now, he is bringing his tools of the trade to Art of the Cocktail, teaching everything from using handmade juices, spices and syrups, to the types of ice and glasses used to form his signature cocktails at Bow & Truss.
Housed in the bustling North Hollywood arts district, Bow & Truss was opened in 2012 by Knitting Factory Entertainment, following the success of their 2011 venue, the Federal Bar on Lankershim Blvd. The restaurant’s theme and menu, as if Spanish sherry isn't enough of a hint, consists of Spanish-style decor and tapas, featuring paellas, tacos, artisanal cheeses, craft beers, and handcrafted cocktails including, according to Jonny Whitton, the “best mojito in the city.”
