With the victory, the Canadiens won their second game of the series but still trail the Rangers 3-2.

Bourque scored his first goal at 6:54 of the second period from Lars Eller and Thomas Vanek. The goal put the Canadiens up by a commanding 4-1 lead only to see the Rangers score three unanswered goals in a span of four minutes and 24 seconds in the second period to tie the score at four goals apiece.

Bourque then put the Canadiens up 5-4 in the second period from Eller and Dale Weise. The goal with 4:50 remaining in the second period would end up being the game winning goal. Shortly after Weise assisted on Bourque's hat trick goal, he was hit hard by Rangers' defenseman John Moore, who received a major penalty for the infraction. Weise got up under the assistance of teammate P.K. Subban.

Bourque played for the Calgary Flames from 2008-2012 before being traded from Calgary to Montreal with Patrick Holland and a second round draft pick for Mike Cammalleri, Karri Ramo and a fifth round draft pick on January 12, 2012.
