Boulder restaurant profile: The West End Tavern

Patrons who are suckers for a rooftop bar may find themselves frequenting the West End Tavern in both summer and winter, when the restaurant conveniently encloses and heats the cozy space upstairs. The most bar-like of all the Big Red F restaurants specializes in bourbon, with a long list that includes a number of private barrel selections. Other aspects of the beverage program haven’t been overlooked; the rotating draught selection here features high-quality beers from local favorites like Avery and famous national breweries like Russian River.

Boulder diners craving pub food will find solid offerings; I can’t get enough of the wings, the wedge salad, or the macaroni and cheese, and the burger certainly isn’t half bad. In fact, this place gets my vote for the best Big Red F food, if I’m going to eat something more than happy hour snacks.
