Boulder Humane class shows how to get your dog to come when you call him

Come back to me - The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is offering a new class to get your dog to come back to you every time you call. The specialized 45-minute class runs for four consecutive weeks, starting Jan. 19, and focuses on training recall games and building a strong Come Back to Me cue. Weather permitting, some classes may take place outside.The instructor will be Helena Kokes. Information/registration

Animated Orchestra - Aninmal House in Fort Collins, a nonprofit that gives animals a second chance to find a home, wil lhost The Animated Orchestra, a youth educational series concert, on Jan. 18. It is a narrated work about a cartoon score being performed at a symphony concert. It is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at UCA Griffin Hall, 1400 Remington, Fort Collins. Discounted surgery - Fort Collins Cat Rescue is offering a $15 discount for dogs age 6 and over on one day only, Jan. 18. Pre-anesthetic blood work is required for dogs age 8 and up. Information

Tail Tale Story Time - Larimer Humane Society's next story time for childeen will be Jan. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the shelter. The event, sponsored by Cindy Lee and the Wags & Menace Make A Difference Foundation, is a free program for 3- to 6-year-olds and includes an animal-themed story and a visit with a shelter animal. Kitten calendar - Almost Home Adoptions, a Westminster non-profit for rescued cats, now has its 2013 kitten calendar for sale at the adoption center. The calendar exclusively features Almost Home Adoptions kittens. The price is $20 and the calendars are available during the shelter's regular hours. Information
