Amusement Today, is a magazine that features articles and news for the amusement park industry. On September 9, Amusement Today awarded Bristol's Lake Compounce Theme Park www.lakecompounce.com with a "Gold Ticket" award for Boulder Dash naming it the "best wooden roller coaster in the world for 2013".
Amusement Today is well known for the highly coveted "Gold Ticket" awards. Experienced park enthusiasts are given a survey that is divided into four geographic locations throughout the US and consists of 23 categories ranging from best water park and best children's park to top wooden roller coasters and top steel roller coasters. In the past, the winners of the best roller coasters were featured on the Discovery Chanel.
Boulder Dash is a 4,725 foot wooden roller coaster that climbs up a mountain side of rock and drops 115 feet as it whizzes through the woods reaching a top speed of 60 miles per hour.
Lake Compounce also has the "Wildcat", a historic wooden roller coaster that was built in 1927 and is one of the oldest operating roller coasters in the world. This roller coaster is 2,746 feet long and has a drop of 73 feet.
