Boulder arts: Mother's Day picks for Sunday, May 9, 2010


 

Looking at the Boulder County Arts Alliance calendar is a smart thing to do when you are looking for fun things to do for the weekend.  For Sunday, May 9, 2010, I want to wish all the mothers out there Happy Mother's Day and to point you in the right direction toward fun family events. 

Here are the Mother's Day picks for today:

Boulder Chorale: Four Corners Songs from around the Globe

Boulder Camerata and Children’s Chorales
Directed by Dr. Timothy Snyder and Kimberly Watkins

Join the Boulder Chorale for a global tour through song as the Camerata  performs Ramirez's Misa Criolla, Lauridsen's Les Chansons des Roses and Rachmaninov's Ave Maria while the Children's Chorales sing the infectious rhythms of African call and response, Calypso, Latin American and Russian folksongs and Chassidic rounds—there’s something for everyone in this concert for all ages.  Passport not required!

When:  4:00 p.m.

Tickets: Adults $15.00, Seniors/Students/Military $12.00, Youth $5.00
Purchase at the door starting one hour before the performance.

Boulder Ballet: The Sleeping Beauty

Set to Tchaikovsky's magnificent score, Boulder Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty is a streamlined, family-friendly version of the quintessential classical ballet. With new choreography by artistic directors Ana Claire and Peter Davison, inspired by the original choreography of Marius Petipa. The elegant Princess Aurora and her Prince, magical Lilac Fairy, dazzling Bluebirds, and evil sorceress Carabosse will all be there!

When: 11 am and 2 pm

Tickets: Adults $26.50, Seniors and youth under 12 $18.50

Story Sharing Circle  

Story Sharing Circle, co-sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Storytellers Guild. Guild members host the event each month Sit in a circle and listen to (or share) a story. If you do share, and you’d like feedback from the professional members of the Guild, you’re welcome to ask, but the main purpose of the circles is to share good stories. All ages (above toddlers) welcome. Stay as long as you’d like. Free.
