Bouchercon 2010: Shamus Awards presented

The Shamus Awards were presented at Bouchercon on October 15, 2010. Issued annually since 1982 by the Private Eye Writers of America, the Shamus Awards recognize mysteries featuring professional nongovernmental investigators.

  • Best Hardcover P.I. Novel: Locked In by Marcia Muller (Sharon McCone series, book 26: Grand Central).
  • Best First P.I. Novel: Faces of the Gone by Brad Parks (Carter Ross mystery, book 1: Minotaur).
  • Best Paperback Original P.I. Novel: Sinner’s Ball by Ira Berkowitz (Jackson Steeg Mysteries, book 3: Three Rivers Press).
  • Best P.I. Short Story: “Julius Katz” by Dave Zeltserman in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine (September/October 2009). Zeltserman also won the 2010 Best Novelette Derringer Award for this work.
  • Best P.I. Character: Sharon McCone (Sharon McCone series by Marcia Muller).
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Robert Crais (Elvis Cole series, Joe Pike series).
