Bouchercon 2010: San Francisco is scene of 41st World Mystery Convention

Bouchercon 2010 concludes today, Sunday, October 17, 2010. Named in honor of the late Anthony Boucher – mystery writer, mystery critic and mystery fan – this largest world mystery convention met this year in San Francisco and has been dubbed “Bouchercon by the Bay.”

Bouchercon 2010 featured Denise Mina (Paddy Meehan series) as its International Guest of Honor, Laurie R. King (Kate Martinelli series, Mary Russell series) as its American Guest of Honor, and Maddy Van Hertbruggen as its Fan Guest of Honor. Eddie Muller (Billy Nichols series) was the 2010 Toastmaster. The convention recognized Lee Child (Jack Reacher series) for his Distinguished Contribution to the Genre.

Each year at least 1500 people attend Bouchercon, including nearly 500 authors as well as librarians, booksellers, agents, editors and publicists. Bouchercon, though, is primarily a convention designed for fans of mystery fiction. During the upcoming week, the Mystery Series Examiner will provide updates on the activities at Bouchercon 2010, beginning with the convention's awards presentations.
