Friday, as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez prepare for their Saturday fight, news of Floyd Mayweather’s comments about himself has created a buzz. Thursday, during a final interview before the fight Mayweather said: “(Alverez) knows he’s facing Floyd Mayweather. I’m just facing another opponent.”
Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. said: "He's 42-0, but he hasn't faced 42 Floyd Mayweathers because he'd be 0-42. I'm at the pinnacle. I'm the face of boxing."
The fight will take place Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is 44-0 and has had 26 knockouts.
Mayweather is guaranteed a record $41.5 million for Saturday's fight, while Alverez, 23, will earn $12.5 million. This is the most that either boxer has been paid for a fight.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. said that no matter what happens during the fight he believes that his career will still be in good shape. He said he doesn’t focus on money, or the outcome, but that focuses completely on the fight. He said that he knows he can handle the pressure and he believes that no can out-box him.
