Forecast discussion: As we head into the weekend, there will be a lot of events happening around eastern Massachusetts. You may be getting ready for that barbecue today. Maybe you’re planting Easter eggs all around the backyard. Or, you are getting ready to run or watch the Boston Marathon on Monday. So, what’s in store for us weather wise this weekend?

Right now, high pressure to our south will continue to give us dry weather. A weak cold front in western New York will pass through the region by the middle of Saturday morning. I am not expecting any precipitation, although mostly cloudy skies will eventually begin to clear. Once the front moves offshore, skies will begin to clear everywhere by the early afternoon. It will be seasonable temperature wise, as I am expecting high temperatures in the lower 60’s. It will actually feel like baseball weather at Fenway this afternoon.

Easter Sunday looks quite delightful. We will have bright sunshine, but northeast winds will make temperatures a little cooler, with highs reaching the lower 50’s. The cooler temperatures are due to the northeast winds coming off the ocean.

For those running or heading to the marathon on Patriot’s Day, it looks like we will see sunny skies and cool temperatures to start the race, with temperatures warming up by the time the runners cross the finish line. There may be some increasing clouds as the last runners make their way to the final few steps.

After the long weekend, Tuesday will see cloudy skies. A cold front will bring light to moderate rain by Tuesday evening, and continue into Wednesday morning. A new high will bring sunny weather back late in the day, and continue to give us sunshine right into the next weekend. A new cold front may bring some showers for next Saturday.

72 hour forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds with a low of 37.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low of 35.
Monday: Sunny in the morning, with increasing clouds during the late afternoon. We will see a high of 63.

Extended Forecast:
