Forecast discussion: Even with bright sunshine for most of Thursday, Boston did not receive the hot temperatures I was forecasting yesterday. Logan Airport received a high temperature of 86 degrees as of 4 p.m. But, the humidity remained quite high, making it feel like the lower 90’s. As we moved through the afternoon, drier air from the north began to filter into Southern New England. So, our humidity will be slowly lowering, but it will remain warm for sleeping this evening, with lows only falling into the middle to upper 60’s.

As we move into Thursday, the forecasted temperatures will still be slightly lower than today’s actual highs. But, the dewpoint will be much lower, making it a little more comfortable, especially if you have to work outside. By Thursday night, our temperatures will return to comfortable readings, so we can shut off the air-conditioners and open up the window again. As we move into the end of the week, cooler air from Canada will lower our high temperatures into the lower 70’s by Saturday. The only weather feature close to New England will be a developing low pressure center near North Carolina. However, the moisture near the low will be too far south to affect our forecast.

As we begin early next week, we will continue to remain dry. It will remain dry and cool into Monday evening. By Tuesday, a new disturbance will slowly work eastward. It will break down the ridge that gave us the dry weather for so long. There is the chance of seeing some showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon. The disturbance will move offshore by Wednesday morning, and we will return to dry weather by the afternoon. However, the warmest temperatures we will see next week will be Tuesday, with highs reaching the middle to upper 70’s.
