High pressure centered to our south will begin to slide eastward today as an upper level disturbance and cold front begin to close in on southern New England. We start the day mostly sunny, however the upper level disturbance will be responsible for some cloudiness today with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. The front is expected to move through the region Thursday night and be offshore Friday morning. With the advancing front there is a better chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the evening and into the overnight. High temperatures will generally be a repeat of yesterday, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Humidity will be noticeably higher making for an uncomfortable day.
During the overnight any scattered showers and storms wind down as the front pushes through by morning. Friday morning the skies will be slow to partially clear, especially closer to the coast, but as drier and cooler air pushes in on a northwest breeze we are confident skies become partly sunny for the afternoon. There remains a risk for an afternoon shower or storm. You will notice the air becoming more comfortable as the humidity lowers through the course of the day. A northeast wind on the coast may keep temperatures in the mid 70s there during the afternoon.
High pressure will have a firm grip on the weather over the weekend. Much lower humidity, cool nights and comfortably warm afternoons will be the rule, with a good amount of sunshine. Great weather for being outdoors so do get out there and enjoy it.
A warm front will begin to influence our weather early next week. Look for an increase in clouds Monday and slightly warmer temperatures. A chance for showers developing by Monday night.
