Metro Boston, North Shore and western suburbs: A cold front will move offshore today as high pressure begins to build out of the Great Lakes and into New England by Monday, moving offshore by Tuesday. Another push of cooler air follows in the wake of the passing cold front, however once the high moves to our east a southwest flow returns and this will warm us up Tuesday and Wednesday, with an increase in humidity as well.
A warm front approaches Tuesday and lifts north of us Wednesday. This will bring partly cloudy skies on average with developing warmth and more humidity, especially for Wednesday. By Wednesday night a chance of showers exists.
The morning radar shows numerous showers through central and northern New England. Additional showers have pushed southeast of our area and offshore. These were the showers that dropped some light rain on us overnight. As the front moves through today another isolated shower may develop locally, with the widespread showers to our north tending to move east and dry up with time.
Speaking of drying, that is what we can expect as another much cooler and very dry air mass slides in overhead tonight. Temperatures fall into the 40s, with a few upper 30s possible in the usual colder inland areas.
Monday starts off chilly, but temperatures recover nicely for the afternoon under abundant sunshine.
Some clouds begin to move in Monday night and Tuesday as the warm front approaches. We should average out with a mix of clouds and sun Tuesday and Wednesday. As we mentioned there could be a few showers here Wednesday evening.
Outlook for Thursday is a chance for showers and thunderstorms, warm and muggy, followed by drier and cooler later Friday and Saturday.
