Boston weather: Sunny but breezy on Sunday

Forecast discussion: A few showers passed through eastern Massachusetts this morning, before a high pressure system brought sunshine by the afternoon. However, the distance between the low leaving and the high pressure ridge coming in helped create a strong pressure gradient. The pressure gradient between the two systems helped to create the breezy conditions. It will remain breezy into tomorrow afternoon, before winds begin to diminish by Sunday night.

The high pressure system will keep skies clear Sunday evening, and will continue to see sunshine on Monday. Clouds, however, will begin to increase by the mid-afternoon. This is due to a developing low pressure system just south of Brownsville, TX at the moment. This low will move through the Southeast U.S. before making it into the Mid-Atlantic on Monday afternoon. We will begin to see some showers by Monday night. As the low intensifies, many computer models suggest moderate to heavy rain during the morning hours on Tuesday. We could see up to an inch of rain, with some isolated areas seeing as much as 2 inches. The precipitation tapers to showers by the early afternoon, before the low moves offshore Tuesday night.

We will see mostly sunny skies and slightly cooler temperatures for the middle of the week. A cold front will pass through New England on Friday, bringing some scattered showers. The front will move offshore before midnight, and we will return to sunny skies but cooler temperatures for next Saturday.
