Metro Boston, North Shore and western suburbs: High pressure remains in control through tonight. After a chilly start this morning another gem of a day is in store for us Sunday with abundant sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Early morning temperatures were generally in the upper 40s and low 50s with some mid 50s on the coast. A quick recovery is expected as temperatures top out in the low 80s inland, upper 70s near and along the coast with some mid 70s on the beaches. Light north to northwest winds this morning are expected to turn east and southeast this afternoon along the shore. Fair skies tonight, although clouds will be on the increase later at night. With a light southwest airflow taking shape tonight it will not be as cool with lows in the mid and upper 50s to around 60 on the coast.
The early to mid week portion of the new work week will see quick changes to weather conditions as several fronts and weak disturbances impact the area. Low pressure in southern Canada will drag the associated warm front through here Monday night. Ahead of the front we can expect plenty of clouds and a chance of a few showers breaking out during Monday and Monday night. An embedded thunderstorm or two is possible as well. It will start to become humid again, especially overnight Monday, as the warm front approaches and moves through eastern Massachusetts. Highs Monday upper 70s to low 80s. Overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s. Southwest winds prevail into Monday night, becoming west overnight.
Tuesday, considerable cloudiness early as a weak disturbance moves offshore with a cold front sliding down from northern and central New England. Skies should become generally partly cloudy in the afternoon however there remains a chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Highs into the low and mid 80s away from the coast, upper 70s on the shore.
It should dry out some Tuesday night with lows tailing off to near 60 inland to the mid 60s on the coast.
Another low and attendant fronts will approach Wednesday bringing mostly cloudy weather with showers and thunderstorms possible.
Drier weather should return by the end of the week into the start of the Labor Day Weekend.
