Low pressure over eastern Massachusetts early this morning moves into Maine today taking the bulk of the rain with it. Overnight most areas received one quarter to one third of an inch of rainfall. A few spotty showers this morning along with mist and fog will slowly ease out. Although conditions will be slow to improve this morning we are expecting periods of sun by this afternoon as the drier air begins to work in on a brisk westerly wind. A brief shower is still remotely possible this afternoon, but nothing that will ruin the afternoon. Temperatures this morning are generally hovering around 40 degrees with afternoon highs rebounding into the 50s.
Tonight, high pressure begins to work its way eastward out of the Midwest and will be in control for the remainder of the weekend. By Sunday night the high should be centered just to the south of our area, moving offshore during Monday. This will give us dry weather through Sunday night and into the beginning of the new work week. Although a brisk wind will be in place tonight and early Sunday the warm April sun will offset whatever chill the wind brings during Sunday. By the afternoon winds should ease and it is expected to be a pleasant early April afternoon.
Low pressure emerges out of the lower Mississippi Valley early Monday and moves to a position in western New York State by Tuesday morning. This system will move well to our west allowing for milder air to stream up the Eastern Seaboard. Clouds are on the increase Monday and by evening showers arrive. As the low to our west moves into Canada it will draw a warm front through here early Tuesday then a cold front later in the day. As a result expect a wet Tuesday with some embedded heavy rain possible. This rainfall will need to be monitored very closely given that some of the local streams and rivers are still close to flood stage from last weekends heavy rain.
Conditions improve by Wednesday with a mix of clouds and sun with fair weather expected again on Thursday.
