Metro Boston, North Shore and western suburbs: A bubble of high pressure allows for another delightful day Saturday as we sit between two unsettled weather systems. Low pressure off the North Carolina coast will move southeast of Cape Cod and be positioned just south of Nova Scotia Sunday morning. Meanwhile, system number two will move out of the Great Lakes, across southern Ontario and then to a position near Quebec City by Sunday morning. This second system will swing another cold front through here later Saturday night.
What to expect for the first half of the weekend is a mostly sunny Saturday, with some high clouds on the increase during the afternoon. Highs climb back into the mid to upper 60s with a south to southwest breeze of 5 to 15 mph. Skies become mostly cloudy Saturday night and there is a chance of a passing shower as the front moves across eastern Massachusetts overnight. Not as chilly, lows in the upper 40s. Winds southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Behind the cold front cooler air infiltrates the area during Sunday with highs in the low 60s and a stiff west to northwest breeze making it feel even cooler, despite a fair amount of sunshine. It becomes even cooler Sunday night as temperatures tumble into the mid to upper 30s through the interior, low 40s on the coast, under a mostly clear sky.
High pressure expands over the area for Monday. A cooler weather pattern is trending for the Northeast over the coming week. Although temperatures return to the low 60s, the trend is going to be for much cooler air by mid week and it is going to hang around for awhile. Generally partly cloudy skies prevail for Monday and through Monday night. Not so chilly overnight, lows in the low to mid 40s.
Tuesday, the cold front makes its approach and moves through here late day or in the evening. Skies change from partly cloudy to mostly cloudy by late in the day and overnight, with a chance of a few showers associated with the frontal passage, most likely late day and early at night. Highs Tuesday in the low 60s, lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Then on Wednesday we begin to see the transgression to much cooler weather. Highs only in the mid 50s with a gusty breeze and partly sunny skies.
We will watch for the possibility of a developing storm later in the week while it continues quite cool and blustery through the late week period. A cold rain is possible late week, but that’s a fair distance away and we will take a look at that chance later this weekend.
