Warm and humid weather across the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic will stay put early this week.

Metro Boston, North Shore and Metro West: Father’s Day turned out everything it was forecast to be as far as weather was concerned. Mild temperatures, low humidity and a refreshing northwest breeze to go along with the abundant sunshine throughout the day.

We have already reached the mid way point of the month and the numbers are as follows. The temperatures are slightly above average so far. The highest reading was 83 degrees on the 2nd and we also had three other days when the mercury climbed to 80 or above. It occurred on consecutive days from the 7th through the 9th with highs of 80, 81 and 81 degrees. On the cooler side of average the lowest temperature was 51 degrees recorded on the first of the month. Six days temperatures never climbed any higher than the low or mid 60s. But when all is averaged out Boston’s running .01 degrees above average at the mid point of June. Rainfall has been measured at 2.32 inches so far in June which is slightly above normal for this point in the month.

What lies ahead for this week in weather? High pressure will continue to give us pleasant conditions through Monday with mainly sunny skies and mild temperatures. The winds will be lighter than they were on Sunday and this will most likely promote a light southeast wind along the coast in the afternoon, which in turn keeps it cooler there. Highs climb back into the low 80s inland but remain in the 70s along the shore.

A cold front approaches Monday night into Tuesday but really never makes it here as it washes out. With this comes an increase in clouds and a slight chance of a shower, mainly late Monday night or early on Tuesday. Tuesday will see a mix of clouds and sun through the day. Lows on Monday night near 60 degrees. Highs Tuesday in the low 80s across the interior, mid 70s coast as winds turn southeast along the coast once again.

Cloudiness hangs in Tuesday night as a weak disturbance approaches. This disturbance brings a better chance for showers Wednesday and Wednesday night, perhaps even an isolated thunderstorm or two. Lows Tuesday night stay mild in the low to mid 60s. A warm front passage drives highs on Wednesday into the low to mid 80s with the mercury staying quite mild Wednesday night in the mid 60s. It will also turn muggy by Wednesday so the air mass will have a tropical feel to it with a south to southwest wind.

Thursday, a cold front moves through by midday and skies begin dry out with a nice refreshing air mass arriving by Friday. Early clouds on Thursday, perhaps a spot shower or two as well, will give way to partly sunny afternoon skies with highs in the mid 70s to 80 degrees. Temperatures cool to near 60 overnight under fair skies.

Then on Friday, with high pressure taking control of our weather once again, look for sunny skies, pleasantly mild temperatures and low humidity. Highs in the 70s.

If your looking for mid Summer heat and humidity it won’t be happening next weekend as a seasonably cool and dry pattern stays in place.
