Metro Boston, North Shore and Metro West: We are starting off today with sunrise temperatures generally in the 50s throughout the area. With high pressure building into the region and a dry air mass in place we can look forward to a fantastic Friday as the weather will be sunny, comfortable temperatures and light winds. High temperatures will top out in the upper 70s to low 80s, coolest on the shore. Light and variable winds become onshore along the coast at 5 to 10 mph.
Fair skies and cool temperatures Friday night. Another comfy night for sleeping without the air conditioner. Lows in the mid and upper 50s, about 63 in Boston. Light south winds.
On Saturday the high moves offshore. Low pressure moves across the Great Lakes with the attendant warm front sweeping across Pennsylvania and the mid-Atlantic. Although the day should generally be partly sunny, high clouds from the Great Lakes system will be on the increase during the afternoon. Temperatures run about 5 degrees warmer than those of today, highs in the low to mid 80s. Southwest winds 8 to 15 mph.
With the warm front approaching southwest portions of Connecticut on Sunday and low pressure inching into southern Quebec it appears clouds take over Saturday night into Sunday. One impulse of showers and thunderstorms may move through here late Saturday night or Sunday morning, followed by another round of activity either late Sunday and or Sunday night. It will become increasingly more humid as well. The mercury stays milder for Saturday night, mainly in the mid to upper 60s, near 70 Sunday night. Highs on Sunday around 80 degrees.
Several weak disturbances will come into play on Monday and Monday night with the warm front stalling across the area. This adds up for a day of unsettled conditions with more showers and thunderstorms around. Highs again near 80. Lows 65 to 70. It will be humid as well.
The trailing cold front will move closer Monday night and should pass offshore on Tuesday. This holds in the chance for showers and storms into Tuesday. Highs 75 to 80.
Skies become partly cloudy Tuesday night into Wednesday as high pressure follows behind the departing cold front. It turns less humid and we should be in for a couple of days of fine weather through the remainder of the work week.
North Shore beach outlook:
Friday: A great day for sunbathing. Sunshine and comfortable with low humidity and high temperatures in the mid 70s north of Cape Ann, upper 70s southward. Light and variable winds turn onshore during the afternoon at 5 to 10 mph. Water temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. High tide near mid day. Surf only 1 to 2 feet. The UV Index will be very high.
