Metro Boston, North Shore and Metro West: It was a beautiful Summer preview on Monday with temperatures climbing into the low 80s throughout the Boston area along with low humidity and a light breeze. A few coastal locations developed a feeble afternoon sea breeze but that did nothing to dampen what turned out to be a great day. Officially, Boston reached 83 degrees which was representative of the highs throughout the North Shore and Metro West. It was cooler across Cape Cod with highs in the 70s but throughout the Connecticut Valley highs managed to climb into the mid 80s for many of you there.
A slow moving front to our west will take its time to get here crossing the area through the middle portion of this week. Tuesday will be a day of transition as we go from early sunshine followed by increasing clouds through the afternoon. Although showers are expected to break out across far western Massachusetts, locally we should remain dry through the day. Temperatures once again climb above 80 across most of the interior, however a southeast breeze will keep it cooler along the coastal plain as readings remain in the 70s there.
As the front inches closer Tuesday night so do the showers. There is a chance that many areas get wet later Tuesday night, mainly after midnight. Low temperatures holding between 55 and 60 degrees. Southeast winds persist at 5 to 15 mph.
The front slowly moves across the area and sinks to our south later on Wednesday. The air mass ahead of the front will be moist giving us a good opportunity for showers Wednesday and Wednesday night. Temperatures cooling back a bit with highs on Wednesday from the mid 60s along the coast to low 70s across far interior neighborhoods. Overnight lows again ranging from 55 to 60 degrees. Southeast winds continue at about 10 mph.
Low pressure likely tracks along the front Thursday, moving across the south coast of New England. Showers can be expected through a good portion of the day. Highs once again in the mid 60s along the coast to near 70 inland.
Still a chance of a shower Thursday night with skies remaining mostly cloudy through the overnight. Temperatures in the mid 50s.
Friday will bring drier conditions as the wet weather system moves offshore. Some early cloudiness gives way to a partly sunny day. Highs into the low 70s, although an ocean breeze may keep the mercury in the 60s along the coast.
More of the same for Saturday and Sunday as a bubble of high pressure pays a visit over the weekend. A bit milder as temperatures climb into the mid 70s, although it will be slightly cooler along the shore. Nighttime lows in the 50s.
