Today we welcome October and say goodbye to September. It was a delightful month of weather with plenty of sunshine, dry weather and seasonably mild days with cool overnights. It would be difficult to find anything to complain about given the superb weather conditions we experienced through most of the month. As we turn the page to October the question becomes can we possibly continue this stretch of beautiful weather. The answer is yes, at least for the remainder of this work week, not only continuing the string of nice weather but enhancing it with a return to summery temperatures mid to late week.
With the ocean storm moving harmlessly away high pressure begins to reestablish itself through the region. The high will become centered south of us Tuesday and a light west to southwest flow will begin to take over, although local sea breezes are likely along the shore. The high not only brings a continuation of dry weather and fair skies but also an unusually warm spell mid week with high temperatures reaching into the 80s Wednesday.
A weak frontal boundary will approach during Tuesday and as it does so will wash out and fall apart as it crosses southern New England. It will produce partly cloudy skies, otherwise there is not enough moisture associated with it to bring any showers to the area.
High pressure dominates through the work week. Temperatures become unusually warm Wednesday and to a slightly lesser degree Thursday and Friday as well. Coastal areas may see an onshore breeze which will keep it a bit cooler on the shore. Wednesday and Thursday should be mostly sunny, with Friday becoming partly cloudy then mostly cloudy overnight.
The next chance for rain is later on Friday and Friday night as a frontal boundary approaches and then pushes through over the later part of the weekend when there will be another chance for showers at that time.
