Forecast discussion: As expected, a low pressure system passed well south of eastern Massachusetts on Thursday. The low helped to bring showers and periods of light to moderate rain. The current radar images show scattered showers are now moving offshore. A weak cold front over Northern New England will move into our area on Friday. Meanwhile, a high pressure ridge will slowly build in behind the front by the afternoon. We may still see a spot shower or thunderstorm, especially ring the morning hours. The ridge will bring drier air into the evening, allowing for clear to partly cloudy skies for Friday night.

A high pressure system over the Great Lakes will bring some of the best weather we have seen for the weekend. Temperatures will reach the lower 80’s under clear to mostly sunny skies. So, if you made any plans for the outdoors, keep everything as scheduled. The high will influence our weather into part of Monday morning, before a weak disturbance passes into the Northeast U.S. We could see some isolated showers by the early afternoon, with a better chance at showers by the evening commute.

A weak high pressure ridge will bring limited sunshine to the area on Tuesday, and temperatures will be slightly below normal for this time of the year. The limited sunshine continues into Wednesday, with a cold front to our west slowly working its way towards New England. We may see some shower activity before midnight, with some scattered showers possible next Thursday.
