Forecast discussion: A strong high pressure system settled over New England on Sunday. The high helped give us brilliant sunshine and diminished winds. Boston will have the pleasure of keeping this high over us until Monday. A developing low pressure system over eastern Texas will bring increasing clouds during the afternoon.

The low is going to bring some severe weather to parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The low will then work its way towards the Great Lakes, bringing heavy rain to the Mid-Atlantic. We will begin to see showers in Southern New England before midnight, with heavier rainfall during the overnight hours. It may still be raining hard as we begin the morning commute Tuesday morning. However, the cold front will begin to move offshore before noon. The precipitation will taper to showers and the cold front moves offshore. We should see some partial sunshine through Tuesday afternoon. Some areas may see an inch to an inch and a half of rainfall.

High pressure behind the front will bring some cooler air back into Southern New England for Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures for both days will only be in the lower to middle 50’s. As winds turn back to the south, temperatures will reach near 60 degrees on Friday. However, a weak cold front will bring the risk of some showers Friday afternoon. Right now, only the American model is showing shower activity. Saturday looks good, as we will have mostly sunny skies. By next Sunday, limited sunshine will give away to cloudy skies, with some more showers by Sunday evening.
