Forecast discussion: High pressure over northern New York kept dry weather over Boston on Friday. Like Thursday, easterly winds brought some moisture off the ocean, helping to create overcast clouds for the morning and afternoon. However, the high’s center will be right over Southern New England today, so we will see more sunshine than clouds.
The high will slowly move offshore by tomorrow night, so we will see more good weather for Sunday. However, the computer models have been suggesting a developing low north of Bermuda would turn towards us for Monday. After looking over the computer models, I do see the low moving back to the north and west. Although the low’s center will stay offshore, eastern Massachusetts, along with the Cape and Islands, may see some showers Monday morning. I will continue to monitor the models through the weekend. It is possible we could see more rainfall if the low’s center tracks more to the west. The precipitation will remain isolated into Tuesday, until the low moves out to sea.
We will return to mostly sunny weather by midweek, with temperatures actually rising into the middle to upper 70’s. This is slightly above normal temperatures for the first week of October. However, temperatures will cool slightly by next Friday.
