Forecast discussion: A dome of high pressure remains over Boston, and the rest of New England, at this time. Despite the high, some low and mid-level clouds did form during the afternoon, helping to hide the sunshine. However, with the sun setting, the heating induced clouds will dissipate this evening, bringing back clear to partly cloudy skies.
This dome of high pressure will remain over New England for the rest of the week. We will return to mostly sunny conditions throughout the day, with a few fair weather clouds during the afternoon. The high pressure center will begin to move offshore by the weekend, but will continue to give us dry weather.
The computer models are all indicating the development of a low pressure center off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday afternoon, before slowly moving northward. Some computer models suggest the low will move closer to the coastline, as the high blocks the low from moving to the north and east. At this time, it appears the American, European, and United Kingdom models all keep the low far enough away from us that we will only see some low level clouds. We will stay away from any strong winds and heavier precipitation. However, we are still five days away, but I will keep watching the models.
After the low moves off to the north by Monday night, we will return to sunny skies, thanks in part to a new high pressure center. Temperatures will only increase in small increments, but we could see the lower 70’s by next Tuesday.
