Forecast discussion: After a cold front passed through last night in Boston, clouds and showers ended. High pressure ridging built over the area, giving us sunshine in the late morning. This high will give us dry weather for Saturday, but an upper level trough over the Central U.S. will build over the east coast over the next several days. We will notice our temperatures dropping to below normal conditions as we head into next week.
Our weather will also change Saturday night, as two systems come together. A weak area of low pressure will form in the Mid-Atlantic, along with a cold front over the Great Lakes at the moment. We will see some scattered showers from the Mid-Atlantic system around midnight late Saturday night, but the front will help push all the moisture out by mid Sunday morning. Drier air behind the front will bring back sunshine by the afternoon.
We will have good weather last into Monday, before another quick moving cold front brings increasing clouds Tuesday morning. The front will bring showers by sunset, and will last into early Wednesday morning. By this time, a strong high pressure system will bring dry weather right into the end of the week. However, we will also be seeing a surge of colder air come into New England from the north. This colder air is due to the upper level trough mentioned earlier. Temperatures during the day will struggle to stay in the lower 50’s, and low temperatures will fall into the upper 30’s. Some parts north and west of the state could see their first frost.
