Forecast discussion: After some early morning sunshine, clouds began to increase across our skies in Boston, thanks in part to a cooler east wind. There was also some drizzle and fog during the afternoon. This wind will remain on Sunday, but we will see clouds begin to decrease Sunday morning. The low pressure system near the Carolinas will begin to move off into the Atlantic during the afternoon, allowing for a high pressure ridge to build over New England.
Temperatures will slowly moderate over the next few days, and we even have the chance to reach 70 degrees on Tuesday, which would be above normal for this time of the year. As we move into the middle of the week, we will be watching a cold front that should be located near the Great Lakes. This front will bring showers ahead of the front, with showers and light rain into early Thursday morning. The front will move offshore by the afternoon, followed by a new high pressure ridge. We will have mostly sunny skies by the mid-afternoon.
This high pressure ridge will control our weather for a short period of time. The models are predicting a low pressure system to form just off of Long Island. We will see cloudy skies from the low, but the precipitation should stay just to our south and east. A weak disturbance will push through the Mid-Atlantic Friday night, and could provide us with some showers Saturday night. Also, some colder air will begin to filter into Southern New England on Saturday, as high temperatures struggle to reach the lower 60’s.
