Boston weather forecast for Mar. 14, 2013 (Photos)

Forecast discussion: At the moment, a weak wave of energy is moving over southern New York and into New England by this evening. However, there is little moisture with it, so Boston, and the rest of eastern Massachusetts, can just expect cloudy skies and a passing sprinkle or flurry. As we move into Thursday, we will notice our high temperatures will be cooler. Colder air coming down from Canada will overtake Southern New England, making our temperatures a bit below normal. Unfortunately, this pattern will stay with us into next week.

Right now, I will be watching a low pressure system come down from Alberta, Canada. The low will be like an Alberta Clipper, and we could see some light snow or rain showers by Saturday morning, before it heads southeast and into the Delmarva Peninsula. I am not expecting any snowfall from this system, as our ground temperatures will be above freezing.

We will start next week with high pressure coming down from Quebec, giving us sunny skies for Sunday and part of Monday. A low pressure system will be moving into the Northeast by Monday evening. At this time, it appears we will see more rain than snow, although at times there will be a wintry mix.

The bad weather will remain over us until Tuesday night, before the low moves into Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. A weak area of high pressure will bring back sunshine for Wednesday. However, the jet stream will continue to bring colder air from Canada down upon us, giving us below normal temperatures for this time of the year.
