Forecast discussion: A strong high pressure system over central New York will give eastern Massachusetts nice, spring-like weather for the next few days, before a cold front brings some rain and cooler temperatures afterward.
Now, before I begin, I hope you remembered to set your clocks ahead one hour. The high will help filter some warmer air from the south, as winds shift to the southeast and southwest the next couple of days. We will see mostly sunny skies thanks to the high, and temperatures will be rising into the middle 40’s Sunday, and into the lower 50’s on Monday. This will help melt some of the snow pack that is over parts of central Massachusetts.
As we approach Tuesday, a strong low pressure system in the central U.S. will begin to move into the Northeast U.S. The computer models have been very consistent with this system bringing us about an inch of rain. The shower activity will end early Wednesday morning. A weak disturbance may bring a few flurries Wednesday night.
On Friday evening, we will see an Alberta Clipper move into New England, which could produce some rain and snow showers. However, this will be a quick moving system, and will be out to sea by the afternoon. However, we will see some below normal temperatures as highs only reach the upper 30’s on Friday and Saturday.
