Forecast discussion: After seeing about 3 to 5 inches through much of inland Massachusetts, the next worry for drivers tonight will be black ice. Temperatures will go below freezing for inland areas this evening, so please take precaution if you have to drive after midnight to about 8 A.M. Thursday morning. We will see some melting Friday afternoon, as our high temperatures will reach the lower 40’s.
However, we will see some more snow fall Thursday night into Friday morning. An arctic cold front moving into the north central U.S. right now will make its way into New England by tomorrow night. Also, we will see a wave of low pressure track south of New England. The low will actually bring more snow to the Cape and Islands than Boston this time. However, if the low’s track moves further to the east, our snow totals would increase. For now, I’m only seeing a coating to an inch in the capital city, with the Cape and Islands receiving two to four inches. Please check back tomorrow night, as I will see the latest computer models Thursday afternoon.
As we move into the weekend, some warmer air from the south will slowly filter back into the region. High temperatures will return to the upper 30’s to lower 40’s. However, after Saturday night, another arctic front will move into the region. Our low temperatures on Sunday evening will return to the middle to upper teens. Highs after Monday will not even make into New England. The low may intensify during Tuesday afternoon, and will bring us some snow. But, how much depends upon if the low does strengthen. Only the United Kingdom model shows so deep low to our south on Tuesday. I will continue to update you each night, but right now my confidence in seeing a possible Nor’easter is quite low. Another clipper system may bring a few snow showers on Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday night: Increasing clouds with light snow developing after midnight. It will be colder with a low of 18. Winds will come from the north at 11-14 mph.
Friday: Snow showers tapering through the morning, with mostly sunny skies by the afternoon. We will see a high of 29. A dusting to an inch of snow in the capital city is expected by Friday morning.

Saturday: Partly sunny with a high of 42.
Saturday night: Mostly cloudy with a low of 27.
