Forecast discussion: We will be ending 2012 tonight with a mild night, along with a few passing flurries and snow showers during the midnight hour. The showers will only last for a couple of hours, so it will not cause any trouble if you are heading to any First Night activities in Boston this evening.
As we move into 2013, we will see another day like yesterday. We will see more clouds than sunshine, with temperatures barely making it above freezing. This will be due to a polar front which will pass through New England late tomorrow afternoon. We will feel the temperature difference by tomorrow night. Early Wednesday morning’s temperatures will be in the teens, and if we have any wind, it will make it feel like the single digits.
This cold air will remain over Southern New England right into the end of the week. Warmer air will return for the overnight hours by the weekend, as our low temperatures rise into the lower 20’s. High temperatures will feel balmy by next Monday, as high temperatures reach the upper 30’s. Due to the jet stream’s current position, we will not see any storm systems in New England for the rest of the week.
