Forecast discussion: As high pressure off the coast of Nova Scotia loses its grip on Southern New England, we will be seeing a lot of precipitation on Wednesday, although it will be mostly in the form of rain.
Looking at the latest radar image, the precipitation shield is working into southwest Connecticut at this time. Just after 3 a.m. eastern Massachusetts should see the first raindrops mixed with some snowflakes. By the middle of the morning commute, the precipitation will change to rain There may see a coating to an inch of mostly slush before changing to all rain.
Also, there is a Coastal Flood Advisory for the eastern shoreline, along with Nantucket. Due to the strong easterly winds and high tide around 8:30 a.m., there might be some minor splash over or some water making it onto roads. However, the advisory is only in effect from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., so this will only be for a short duration. Also, some cities and towns may see some minor street flooding during the morning hours.
Rain will eventually taper to showers by tomorrow night, and some patchy fog will develop. As we head into Thursday, most of the precipitation will move offshore. However some drizzle and an occasional shower remain possible. As we head into tomorrow night, some moisture from lake effect snow will make its way over Southern New England. We may see a coating by Friday morning. By Friday afternoon, the storm system will begin to move out to sea, setting us up for a dry weekend.
This would be the first weekend in three weeks without seeing a low pressure system. We will see partly to mostly sunny skies during the weekend. The computer models suggest that a developing ocean storm will stay far away from eastern Massachusetts, and poses no threat to us for early next week. So, we will start off the new workweek with more clouds than sunshine, before a weak area of low pressure brings us the chance for some rain showers on Tuesday.

Tonight: Cloudy with a mix of rain and snow by 3 a.m. Winds will be increasing towards dawn. We will see a low of 35.
Wednesday: Any wintry mix changes to all rain during the morning commute. Rain will be heavy at times in the morning, before tapering to showers in the mid- afternoon. We will see a daytime high of 41 with east-northeast winds of 15-20 mph with occasional gusts of 40 mph.
Wednesday night: Showers with patchy fog and a low of 36. Winds will shift to the northwest and diminish to 6-9 mph.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with drizzle and an occasional shower with a high of 46.
Thursday night: Scattered showers changing to snow showers with a low of 33.
Friday: Scattered snow showers ending in the morning with a high of 39.
Friday night: Mostly cloudy with a low of 30.
