Forecast discussion: High pressure gave Boston some sunshine during Monday morning, before clouds increased in the sky during the afternoon. The high will slowly move eastward, and provide us with partly cloudy skies into Tuesday morning. During Tuesday afternoon, our skies will fill with clouds, as we await another storm system.
The low is currently over southeast Oklahoma, bringing thunderstorms to Louisiana and almost a foot of snow to Kansas and Oklahoma. The low will slowly move east, and a second low will form over western North Carolina by tomorrow night. The precipitation will arrive just after midnight early Wednesday morning. South of the Mass Pike should see a combination of rain and snow, before changing to all rain by mid-morning. In fact, the precipitation may be heavy at times just before dawn, and through the morning commute. The area seeing snow and sleet could see a dusting to about 1 inch before we change to all rain by mid to late morning. By early Thursday morning, the precipitation may change back to some snow showers across the state.
The weather will remain unsettled, as the primary low slowly works its way into northern New England. The low may help produce some scattered snow and rain showers through Thursday, before seeing scattered snow showers end by Friday morning. However, little accumulation is expected during this time period.
As we enter the weekend, it appears we will break our streak of seeing a storm system during this time at three weeks. However, the long range computer models are forecasting some upper level dynamics around the Southeast U.S., which will help develop an ocean storm. At this time, it appears the low will form far out in the Atlantic, and we will not see any effects from it. So, I will keep partly to mostly sunny skies for the upcoming weekend, with highs in the middle 30’s to as high as the lower 40’s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny in the morning, with increasing clouds through the afternoon and a high of 42. Winds will come from the east-southeast at 9-12 mph.
Tuesday night: Cloudy skies with light snow and sleet starting around midnight north of the Mass Pike, with all rain south of the Pike. Winds will be increasing from the east-northeast at 15-18 mph before sunrise.
Wednesday: Windy with snow and some sleet changing to all rain by mid to late morning. Some snow/sleet could be heavy during the morning commute. We will see a daytime high of 42.
Wednesday night: Rain tapering to showers with patchy fog and a low of 35.
Thursday: Scattered rain showers with a high of 45.
Thursday night: Scattered rain changing to snow showers with a low of 34.
