Forecast discussion: Well, the low pressure system moved a little quicker out to sea, and temperatures have been above freezing for most of Sunday. Despite a Winter Weather Advisory, Boston has seen a mix of rain and snow. Over the next few hours, cooler air will move from west to east, changing our precipitation to snow. However, we will only see light snowfall before all precipitation ends before midnight.
High pressure will be moving into the Ohio River Valley by Monday morning, and we will see mostly sunny skies, with temperatures in the upper 30’s to lower 40’s. We will remain dry right into Tuesday afternoon, with some increasing clouds expected. We will be watching a low pressure system develop along a cold front Tuesday afternoon over the Southeast U.S. The secondary low will bring some more rainfall to Southern New England before midnight Tuesday evening. Some rain may be heavy at times during early Wednesday morning. As the precipitation continues into Wednesday night, we will see a mix of rain and sleet in the northern part of the state, while remaining rain south of Providence towards the coastline.
All precipitation will end by early Thursday morning, and there is still the chance of some drizzle and light showers. As we move into Thursday night, the primary low will remain over western New York. This low may help create some scattered snow showers on Friday, as some lake effect snow showers from the Great Lakes tries to move into New England. The moisture passes to our east by Saturday, before the chance of another ocean storm brings some possible light snow late Sunday night. At this time, the models are unsure how far out to sea the low will be located. So, we may not see any precipitation at all.

Tonight: Light drizzle changing over to flurries and light snow. I’m only expecting a dusting to inch for Boston, with just a dusting for the Cape and Islands. We will see a low of 29.
Monday: Lingering flurries before dawn, with mostly sunny skies by the afternoon and a high of 41. Winds will come from the north-northeast at 7-10 mph.
Monday night: Partly cloudy with a low of 30. Winds will come from the north-northwest at 2-5 mph.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny in the morning, with increasing clouds through the afternoon and a high of 41.
Tuesday night: Cloudy skies with showers developing before midnight and a low of 34.
Wednesday: Rain, heavy at times in the morning, and a high of 42.
Wednesday night: Rain tapering to showers and a low of 37.
