Examiner’s note: I will not be near a computer Christmas Eve. Since there is no severe weather or snow forecasted for the next few days, the next updated forecast will arrive the night of December 25th, for Thursday’s forecast. I wish all my readers a Merry Christmas!

Forecast discussion: The low pressure system from Tennessee brought some steady showers and even a little freezing rain to the north and west of Providence. However, the showers are coming to an end, as the cold front moves offshore. We will see some passing showers and drizzle for a few more hours, before all precipitation ends. We will see some slow clearing heading into dawn.

Christmas Eve will see more clouds than sun during the daytime, with temperatures more like Monday afternoon, with highs only reaching the middle 30’s. It will be quite cold for Tuesday night, just in time for the man in red and white to make his way through Rhode Island. You may want to keep a little extra milk and cookies available.

When we all awake Christmas Day, we will see bright sunshine, and it will remain cold. Daytime highs will only reach the middle 20’s. We will see warmer temperatures on Thursday, as a low pressure system works its way through Quebec. The milder air will make for rain showers when the moisture pushes through in the afternoon. There is a slight chance the precipitation starts off as snow showers.

As we go through the weekend, temperatures will remain in the middle 30’s, with mostly sunny skies. A new cold front entering out of eastern Canada will bring increasing clouds on Sunday afternoon, but the models disagree if there will be any moisture with this front. So, I will keep the risk of rain showers out of the forecast. A new high pressure system will build in by Monday afternoon. There may be a passing rain or snow shower early, with clearing skies and mostly sunny weather before sunset.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy with a low of 23.
Thursday: Partly sunny with possible afternoon showers. We will see a high of 39.
