The weather will be more in line with the calendar as February arrives. After a wild day of weather to close out the month of January, including heavy rain, damaging winds and temperatures in the low 60s things will calm down considerably for Friday. Temperatures will rewind back to near or slightly below normal and we do have a couple of opportunities for measurable snow over this five day outlook.
Expect a much cooler day on Friday as the mercury will actually be a few degrees below normal. It will become windy and with that wind chills are going to generally be in the 20s. Somewhat of a shock after the recent warmth, but more realistic for what we should have for this time of year. With a weak disturbance in the upper levels passing south of the area we can expect more clouds than sun and just a slight chance of a flurry.
Weather conditions should be fairly quiet Saturday and Saturday night under generally partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will remain slightly below average.
Low pressure is the main focus for Sunday. The low will be developing south of New England and is expected to throw light snow at us for most of the day. The strength of the system and eventual track will determine how much snow we do get and if in fact there will be any rain mixed in at the immediate coast. For now the thinking is a general 1 to 3 inches of snow, coming to an end at night. However, if the system blows up offshore we could be in for heavier amounts of snow, especially in eastern and southeast Massachusetts.
High pressure builds in for Monday, with gusty winds across the region behind the departing low. Even with plenty of sunshine it will be a cold and blustery day.
Tuesday offers another chance for light snow as a disturbance passes offshore to our south. The better chance for snow would be over southeast Massachusetts. Being that we are many days away from this possible event it remains to be seen what the impacts will be to the local area. For now we will pencil in a chance for snow for Tuesday.

Friday: Partly to mostly cloudy and windy. Slight chance of a passing flurry. Much colder, with highs 31 to 35 degrees. West winds gusting up to 35 mph at times.
Friday night: Partly cloudy, breezy and cold. Lows 15 to 20 degrees. West winds gusting to 25 mph.
Saturday and Saturday night: Partly to mostly cloudy skies and cold. Highs 30 to 34. Lows about 20. Lighter winds from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, becoming north about 5 mph at night.
Sunday: Light snow likely. Cold, highs 30 to 34.
Sunday night: Precipitation ending early and remaining mostly cloudy overnight. Lows falling to near 25.
Monday: Windy and cold. Mostly sunny, with highs near 30.
Monday night: Increasing clouds. Lows close to 25.
Tuesday: Chance of light snow developing. Highs 31 to 35.
