Forecast discussion: After a dreadful weekend, the workweek has been delightful. Boston received its second day of bright sunshine and seasonable temperatures for the beginning of April. We will continue to see dry weather for the rest of the week, until a warm front will help bring some showers and rain to eastern Massachusetts for part of the weekend.

High temperature forecast for April 2, 2014

For Wednesday, we will see more clouds than sunshine, thanks to a weak warm front. A low pressure system centered over the western Great Lakes will move into Canada. However, the warm front will pass just north of Southern New England. There is not enough moisture with the system to create any precipitation, but there will be enough moisture to create grey skies. This pattern will continue into Friday. However, a high pressure ridge will continue to keep dry weather over the area.

Eventually, the ridge will weaken, allowing a storm system to come through the Northeast U.S. There will be a secondary low forming along the cold front, and will pass into New England by late Friday night. We will begin to see some showers just after the evening commute. The precipitation will become heavier early Saturday morning, before the showers end by Saturday afternoon.

A strong high pressure system will move over New England for Sunday. The high will slowly drift off to our east on Monday. We will start the day with sunshine, but a cold front will bring some showers into the area by Monday night. We will see light to moderate rain until early Tuesday evening. Temperatures after Saturday will have high temperatures in the 50’s and lows in the middle to upper 30’s.
