Boston weather: Dry weather lasts one more day

See also

Forecast discussion: High pressure just passing eastern Massachusetts brought a fourth day of dry weather into Boston. It was a little cooler today, as easterly winds blew off the Harbor. The east winds helped keep the high temperature for Monday low, at 73 degrees at Logan Airport.

As the high passes into the Atlantic, winds will change to the south-southwest. This will help bring in more moisture into the region, so it will begin to feel more humid as we move into Tuesday night. We will see increasing clouds as the high pressure ridge begins to break down. Increasing clouds is expected starting in the late afternoon, with overcast skies during the overnight. A cold front moving towards New England will create some scattered showers and thunderstorms for Wednesday afternoon. After looking over the computer models, I am beginning to see a general agreement. The cold front will stall over the area on Thursday, meaning another day of isolated showers and thunderstorms. The front will move offshore Thursday night.

Our humidity will begin to decrease as some drier air moves back over Southern New England on Friday. This means the pattern of having dry weekends will continue. At this time, the models keep the area with partly to mostly sunny skies, with temperatures slowly climbing back into the upper 70’s inland. Temperatures will remain seasonable for the last few days of June.

72 hour forecast:

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a low of 61.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny in the morning and becoming breezy. I’m expecting increasing clouds by the evening commute. We will see a high of 82. Winds will come from the south-southwest at 15-18 mph.
Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy with a low of 64. Winds will come from the south-southwest at 10-14 mph.
Wednesday: Cloudy skies with scattered showers/thunderstorms by the early afternoon. We will see a high of 81.
Wednesday night: Scattered showers/thunderstorms and patchy fog with a low of 67.
Thursday: Showers and isolated thunderstorms end by about 9 p.m. We will see a high of 77.
Thursday night: Mostly cloudy with partial clearing towards dawn with a low of 62.

Extended Forecast:
Friday: Partly sunny. Highs 75-78, lows 60-63.
Saturday: Partly sunny. Highs 77-80, lows 60-63.
Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs 77-80, lows 61-64.
Monday: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs 79-82, lows 63-66.
