Forecast discussion: I hope all the fathers out there had a great Father’s Day. I know there were no complaints about the weather around Boston. We had mostly sunny skies, low humidity, and a high temperature of 80 degrees for a high by the late afternoon. A high pressure system off the shores of North Carolina provided us with the gorgeous weather today. However we will begin to lose that high in the next 24 hours.

As we begin the workweek and the end of the school week in some areas, the high will continue to give us dry weather. But, we will begin to see increasing cloud cover in our skies by the late afternoon. The cloud cover will be due to a warm front now over Wisconsin moving eastward. Showers and thunderstorms ahead of the front will arrive early Tuesday morning. However, the warm front will be quite weak, and it will dissipate by the early evening. So, we will see any precipitation end by the early afternoon. Once the cold front pushes into New England, we will return to seeing showers and thunderstorms Wednesday morning.

The front will become more west to east Wednesday night, so we will see the front push off to the south by early Thursday morning. We will see an end to the precipitation early in the morning. A weak high pressure ridge will provide us with partly to mostly sunny weather into the weekend. However, after a very warm and humid Wednesday, temperatures will cool off into the middle 70’s by Saturday.

By next Sunday, we will see increasing clouds through the day, as a low pressure system over the Ohio River Valley. This low will help rotate some showers into New England by the early evening. Temperatures will be warmer Sunday evening, thanks to increasing humidity and cloud cover.
