Forecast discussion: Well, it was not our usual Saturday in Boston, but we did keep dry weather. Thanks to a low pressure system riding a frontal boundary to our south, as well as east winds, the city remained socked in with cloudy skies and high temperatures in the lower 70’s. This low will slowly move north and east this evening. It will bring a few isolated sprinkles and showers, mainly to the southern Bristol and Plymouth Counties, as well as the Cape and Islands. However, we will begin to see partial clearing by the afternoon. By tomorrow night, a high pressure ridge will help clear skies for Sunday evening.
A high pressure system over Indiana will take over the weather pattern on Tuesday, but a few clouds ahead of a cold front will give us limited sunshine. Also, we will return to southwest winds by this time, helping to bring more tropical air over us. This means the humidity will be on the increase, and temperatures will slowly climb as we head into the middle of the week.
We will see the warmest day of the week on Wednesday, as temperatures may reach 90 degrees if we see enough sunshine breaks through the clouds. A cold front will approach New England, and we may see some showers and thunderstorms by the middle of the evening commute. We will remain with showers, periods of heavy rain, and isolated thunderstorms into Wednesday night. Before midnight, the front will move into the Atlantic and high pressure ridging will once again bring dry conditions.
This will bring us to next weekend. Despite the cloudy conditions expected, Boston has seen seven straight weekends without any precipitation. Right now, it appears next Saturday will be number eight. The high will bring mostly sunny skies, but northeast winds will keep temperatures into the lower 80’s.
