Boston Sea Rovers in transition

This year marks the 56th annual Boston Sea Rovers clinic.  This is the oldest clinic of its kind in the country.  The event, which has been held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, is usually a weekend of exhibits, seminars, workshops, and the famous Saturday Night Film Festival.  The clinic this year will consist of just the film festival which will be held at the New England Aquarium.  The Sea Rovers are promising that the film festival will be better than ever, and will be hosted by Dr. Sylvia Earle.  There will be an after-show reception on the Majesty moored alongside the aquarium.

The Sea Rovers promise that they are working to make next year's clinic the best yet.  They have remarked that they have undergone many transitional periods in their long history, and that this is nothing new.  They have not announced the venue for next year's clinic.  The Sea Rovers have stated that the new venue will have improved exhibitor space, more affordable accommodations, and low-cost or free parking.

The Boston Sea Rovers show is how the local diving community kicks off the dive season and we all look forward the to see what the future holds for the Sea Rovers.

The venue was fantastic, as the big IMAX screen was better than at Hancock Hall, but the show wasn't anything spectacular. Constant A/V issues, several of the speakers were less than engaging, and the club did little to convey what they were all about. For $40 a tick, I had higher expectations.
