On Friday night, June 27, 2014, Sculler's Jazz Club 400 Soldiers Field Road, Boston (617) 562-4111 has a contemporary jazz quartet called Fourplay. Out of the twelve recordings this band has put out, six have climbed to the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Album charts. The group's first record, 1991's "Fourplay", sold over a million copies, and remained at #1 on Billboard's contemporary jazz chart for 33 weeks. The next album, 1993's "Between the Sheets", reached #1, went gold, and was nominated for a Grammy. In 1994, Fourplay's third gold album, "Elixir", also reached #1, and remained on the charts for more than 90 weeks. Singer and songwriter Carlin Tripp will be at the Nosh Tavern, 15 Main Street Ext. in Plymouth on Friday night. Tripp is a solo musician who has been playing out for thirteen years in and around the Boston area. His songs are thoughtful and romantic.
