Boston Running: Great runs for St. Patrick's Day Weekend

Hopefully this streak of early spring weather will continue this weekend so area runners can get out an enjoy some of the great runs on tap!

Saturday, March 16th

8:30 a.m. - Go Greene 5K & Kids' Fun Run

Prizes will also be given for the best St. Patrick’s Day attire, so don’t forget to wear your green! This run will benefit the Greene’s Field Playground. The Kids' run, for 8-year olds and younger, starts at 8:30 with the 5K to follow at 9:00 a.m. There will be light food and water at the end of the race and all registrants will receive a water bottle. Online registration closes Friday at noon; race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m.

9:00 a.m. - Mick Morgan's St. Patrick's Day 5K Road Race

This 2nd annual road race benefits HESSCO Elder Services in Sharon. Plan to stick around after the race for some great live music! Ricky "King" Russell & The Cadillac Horns will be playing at Mick Morgan's beginning at 11:00 a.m.

10:30 a.m. - Boston Seaport Beer Running Tour

City Running Tours is once again hosting its 10K guided running tour of historic sights around Boston. Post-run you'll head to the Harpoon Brewery for a tour and tasting. Runners must be 21-years or older to participate. Registration closes on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

11:00 a.m. - St. Paddy's Day Milton 5K

This year marks the second running of this event. All proceeds will support Milton High School Athletics and Rugby Club. Get your green on and help chase the snakes out of Milton! Costumes encouraged! Trophies will be awarded in Mens, Womens, Open and Masters, as well as Girls and Boys 18 and Under. Meet at Cunningham Park Hall, Edge Hill Rd, Milton. Race day registration is available. Post race party to follow.

Sunday, March 17

10:00 a.m. - Irish 5K

Join the Irish Cultural Center of New England for a wicked fast 5K on a pancake-flat course in Canton. Runners, walkers, strollers, wheelchairs all welcome. Great post-race party to follow with a live Irish music from Auld Locals and plenty of Guinness and Smithwick's on tap! An Irish breakfast will be served at 9:00 a.m. to kick things off.

10:00 a.m. - Leprechaun 5K Shuffle & Fun Run

For those of you north of the city, check out the first running of the Leprechaun Shuffle in Burlington. A half mile fun run kicks off at 9:30. Registration/check-in starts at 8:30 a.m.

11:00 a.m. - Oliver's St. Paddy's Day 5K

This is a fast run through Fall River's Industrial Park followed by food, drink and entertainment at The Beacon Light Tavern. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome.
