In another incident in Dorchester, officers are investigating the attempted theft of five golf carts from the William J. Devin Golf Course at 1 Circuit Drive.

On Wednesday, an officer from District D-2 arrived at the course to respond to a call of breaking and entering in which five golf carts had been removed from a secured holding area. Four of the carts were recovered near the 12th hole of the course but the thief or thieves managed to steal the fifth cart and it has yet to be located.

The officer reported that the control panel of the carts appeared to have been ripped open and that the starters for the carts were hot-wired. A large cutting tool known as a Sawzall may have been used to cut the chains that kept the holding area closed.

The golf card has a value of approximately $6,000.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact District B-2 at 617-343-4789. Information can also be sent anonymously to CrimeStoppers at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting (27463) with the subject line “TIP” and the information.
