Boston Mills ski resort located at 7100 Riverview Road, Peninsula, offers a unique field trip option to students interested in learning more about winter sports. Traditional schools and homeschool families can take advantage of this special pricing option for a day on the slopes. According to the Boston Mills website, www.bmbw.com, "one of the best kept secrets of Boston Mills is our cost saving student specials".

Field trip packages include ski or snowboard equipment rental, snow/lift ticket, ski or snowboarding lesson, and lunch (hot dog, chips and drink). The cost is only $25.00 per student. Students traveling in a group receive one free field trip package for every 15 purchased.

Homeschool students Jonah Spoerndle, age 15 and Micah Spoerndle, age 12 recently spent the day at Boston Mills with a group of 34 homeschooled students as a part of the field trip option. Neither Micah or Jonah had skied or snowboarded before.

"It was fun. The snowboarding instruction was clear. I wasn't confused about anything, but it was a bit of a pain because there was only one snowbording instructor there that day. I really liked boarding once I got the hang of it. I would definitely recommend this as a field trip", said Jonah.

"They have a lot of choices for hills, six or seven I think. That was nice because if you get really good you can pick a specific hill that you are ready for. I've never been snowboarding before and it was really hard at first. Next time I think I want to try skiing", added Micah.

Field trips must be scheduled Mondays-Fridays from 10AM-4PM and require advanced reservations of at least 48 hours. In addition, Boston Mills requires participating students to be at least 8 years old.

Field trip and student rental reservation forms can be downloaded from the Boston Mills website or contact the resort's Group Outings Staff at 1-800-875-4241.
