Mayor Marty Walsh met with comedian and actor Eugene Mirman yesterday at Boston City Hall and officially declared May 3, 2014 as Eugene Mirman Day in Boston. Of the experience, Eugene said "It was amazing meeting the Mayor! I didn't even know such a thing was possible, but I am so honored and thrilled. I want to thank the Mayor of Boston for this incredible honor and if he ever needs me to proclaim that it's Marty Walsh day anywhere in the world, I will happily do it."
This weekend also marks the 2nd Annual Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival which features four nights of outstanding comedy and music. Mirman is a comedian and hero who was raised in the Boston area and now lives in Brooklyn where he has curated his hugely popular annual Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival for the past six years. Last summer, Eugene brought his fantastic multi-night festival to Boston for the first time ever and it proved to be such a hit that he brought it back to the city with another great line up of shows and talent.
The Sinclair and Berklee Performance Center play host to this year’s festival, which kicked off with two sold out shows last night. Joining Eugene for shows tonight through Sunday will be fellow Massachusetts-raised humorist John Hodgman, "Bob's Burgers" co-stars H Jon Benjamin and Kristen Schaal, legendary UK comedian Daniel Kitson, Wyatt Cenac, Nick Thune, Ken Reid, Mehran Khaghani, and a very special Boston edition of the hit live show and podcast StarTalk Live! with guest host Bill Nye The Science Guy.
