Congratulations to the Sacramento area runners who completed the Boston Marathon last Monday, April 19, 2010. There were at least 76 Sacramento area runners among the 22,540 runners that completed the 114th Boston Marathon. It was likely an experience they will never forget. David Bowers, 37, Elk Grove, 3:12:40: "The Boston Marathon completely lives up to the hype, from the women of Wellesley College to the challenge of Heartbreak Hill. The best part of the race was the spectator support. From beginning to end you always had someone cheering you on. It was amazing to be part of a 114 year tradition and an experience that every runner should strive for."
Morgan Oneill Young, 29, Sacramento, 5:11:41: "Boston was fantastic. I ran it with my dad, James Young, who has run over 50 marathons. My Dad is also one of the 13 people who have run every California International Marathon. There is nothing like the crowds of Boston cheering you on. I wore my name on my shirt so I had people all along the course yelling my name. The best part of the experience was crossing that finish line with my dad. Talk about the ultimate father-daughter moment! Oh yeah, I also got a high-five from Ryan Hall at the start, that was pretty awesome too!"
Stan Oporski, 51, Carmichael, 3:37:43: "It's 48 hrs. after I finished Boston Marathon and now I'm getting really sore. The infamous "heartbreak hill" is to blame for it but I loved it!"

My co-worker, Eddie Schmidt, is a marathon runner and qualified for Boston. However, he wasn't able to go this year. There are definitely a lot of runnners in this area and even though I am not one of them, congrats on finishing (and many with some great times!).
