Boston Food Truck Initiative

On July 13 the city of Boston’s food truck initiative began with 15 new permanent locations designated in several neighborhoods to host a rotating menu of food truck fare. These new locations are in addition to City Hall Plaza and the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Food trucks will be offering breakfast (6am – 10am), lunch (10am – 3pm) and dinner. Dinner runs from 3pm – either 9pm or 11pm. Locations (below) with an asterisk next to them only serve dinner until 9pm.

As part of the Mayor’s Healthy Food Initiative, food trucks applying to participate in the program must include at least one healthy menu option that does not include fried foods, trans- fats, or high fructose corn syrup. The healthy menu option also has to include at least three of the following: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, reduced fat or lean meats that are grilled, broiled or baked. Additionally, participating trucks were asked to provide a statement on their commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, and to consider joining the Mayor’s “Rethink Your Drink” Campaign.

Here are the locations and the food trucks initially scheduled to be at each one in the weeks to come:

Location 1 – Back Bay – on Boylston Street in front of the BPL Copley Branch

Breakfast: Tuesday and Thursday - Mobile Home

Lunch: Alternating Monday – Sunday - Grilled Cheese Nation, Dining Car, Mobile Home, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Bon Me

Dinner: Alternating Monday – Sunday – Red Bones BBQ, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Staff Meal, Kick*ss Cupcakes, Bon Me

Location 2 – Back Bay – on Clarendon Street between Newbury and Boylston Streets, in front of TD Bank

Lunch: Alternating Monday – Sunday – Red Bones BBQ, Grilled Cheese Nation, Mobile Home, Staff Meal

Dinner: Alternating Monday – Sunday – Mobile Home, Staff Meal, Clover, Kick*ss Cupcakes

Location 3 – Back Bay – on Stuart Street at the corner of Trinity Place, in front of the 100 Clarendon Street Garage

Lunch: Alternating Monday – Sunday – Red Bones BBQ, Cupcakory, Mobile Home, Staff Meal

Location 4 – Back Bay/Prudential – on Belvidere Street, across from 100 Belvidere Street, adjacent to the Christian Science Center’s Children’s Fountain

Dinner: Alternating Monday – Sunday – Dining Car, Mobile Home

Location 5 – Bay Village – on Columbus Avenue at Park Square

Lunch: Wednesday – Friday – Lincoln Street Coffee

Location 6 – Bay Village – on Columbus Avenue at the corner of Berkeley Street, adjacent to the vacant Turnpike parcel
